Head of Economic Research, Bank for Development and Foreign Trade (Vnesheconombank)

Evgeniy Pogrebnyak joined VEB in 2008 soon after its inception as a development bank. Within the Department for Strategic Analysis he is responsible for research on priority industrial and infrastructure sectors and macroeconomics. Prior to VEB he was Head of Research at the Institute for Complex Strategic Studies in Moscow, an economic policy think-tank. He worked as a consultant to Russian Ministry of Industry and Energy, UN Development Program and corporate clients including Gazprom, Deutsche Bank and others.

Dr. Pogrebnyak holds a degree with honors from the Moscow State University Economics Department. In 2004 he was a visiting researcher of London Business School Energy Markets Group performing analysis of Russian electricity wholesale market.
