Daniel J. McCarthy

Professor Daniel J. McCarthy holds an AB and MBA from Dartmouth College, and a DBA in Finance/Business Policy from Harvard University. Early in his career, Professor McCarthy was president and co-founder of Computer Environments Corporation and served as a director on its board, as well as the board of its sister company, Time Share Corporation. He has also served on the boards of a number of private companies and nonprofit organizations and is currently the lead director of Clean Harbors, Inc., a public company for which he has been a director since 1987.
Professor McCarthy was recognized as one of the world´s top three scholars on business in Russia and Eastern Europe in a 2005 edition of the Journal of International Business Studies. He also ranks as the #1 most published author (tied) in the Journal of World Business from 1993-2003, and has been identified as one of the top 5% of researchers in international business in a Michigan State University study of publications in the top international business journals from 1996-2005. He is a fellow at the Davis Center for Russian Studies at Harvard University, as well as co-director of the High Technology MBA Program and distinguished professor at Northeastern University in Boston.
Professor McCarthy teaches mainly in the areas of innovation, business plans, strategy, and corporate growth. His research is primarily in international business and entrepreneurship with an emphasis on Russia.
