ESMT campus Berlin
ESMT's headquarters and main campus is located in the former GDR Staatsratsgebäude in the heart of Berlin at Schlossplatz 1.Constructed in 1960s’ socialist architectural style to host the Staatsrat (National Council) of the GDR, it represented the supreme institution of the East German state governance. The front of the building incorporates the famous portal from the razed Berlin Stadtschloss (palace), the only part that survived demolition and from which the Socialist Republic was proclaimed in 1918. After reunification, the Staatratsgebäude functioned as the provisional home of the German Federal Cabinet and temporary office of the German Chancellor.
The transformation of the Staatsratsgebäude into a modern learning institution started in 2004 and was completed at the end of 2005. The ESMT main campus is now open for use by the School's learning community of professors and participants, facilitating a mutually beneficial exchange of theory and practice. The state-of-the-art auditoriums, all-access study rooms and high class research facilities, as well as open spaces for informal exchange and discussion, support the ESMT learning experience in this unique historical setting.
